Out Adventures heads south for an active gay tour of Chile.

To rest your weary feet after our daily hikes and bikes, we’ve selected three incredible hotels in the key areas we’ll visit: Santiago, Colchagua Valley and Atacama Desert. Scroll down for a quick intro to each.

Santiago

Nestled in the heart of Santiago’s Lastarria neighbourhood is our first hotel. Art deco defines this cultural jewel which was built in the roaring 20s. At the time of construction, it was actually the tallest building in the city and the very first to have an elevator. Today, it oozes a retro-chic charm with modern comforts.

Colchagua

Our second hotel is a boutique retreat amongst Chile’s premier wine region—in fact, the hotel’s very own land is a family-run vineyard your welcome to explore on your own. The tranquil space has a rustic bar and lounge offering wine flights and guided tastings of their very own vintages. Be sure to enjoy your morning cup of Joe on your private balcony. In terms of amenities, take a dip in the adorable pool overlooking both wine country and the distant Andes.

Atacama

The indigenous Ayllus or Atacama peoples were the architectural inspiration behind our final hotel, a 60-room resort in the driest desert on Earth. The interior and guest rooms are minimally designed, only using natural elements that harmonize with the local surrounds. We recommend taking advantage of the acclaimed spa. Not to mention enjoying a nightcap outside where you can gaze upon some of the world’s clearest star-dotted skies.
